![]() ![]() The action starts up right where Rayman 1 left off, and there's just about every kind of level a 3D action platform fan could ask for, too-Waterskiing, flying, sliding through tubes, wild piggyback rides on top of a missile with legs. It's been in a few games now and it makes so much sense that it's a shame more 3D action platform games don't have it. This keeps the enemy you're attacking in your view at all times so you can dodge attacks quickly without having to worry about where the camera is positioned. But perhaps my favorite feature of the game is the use of Z-targeting. ![]() The control is very tight and the difficulty is well-adjusted so that anyone can pick up and play right away. Even in low-detail and low-resolution, it looks great (though fuzzy in low res). ![]() This has got to be the most detailed and lush game on the N64 ever. The amount of time Ubi Soft has taken to develop the N64 version of Rayman 2 was well-spent. ![]() On March 15, Ubi Soft is also unveiling the site from which you'll be able to download new maps, chat with fellow Rayman 2 fans and see their best times, nab special holiday downloads, etc. You also get a four-player mini-game (which'll take you a while to open). Rayman 2 will keep you busy for a while, too it packs more than 50 levels, including three new stages exclusive to the DC version. Except for the usual camera quirks that plague these types of games, the varied gameplay styles all work incredibly well. rocket down a beam of light on a single-seat monorail, and much more. In addition to the standard platform action, you'll waterski, ride a bucking missile, earn the ability to fly. Better still: The gameplay's as solid as the visuals Rayman 2 melds myriad play styles. While the N64 version looked pretty in its own right, the DC game packs new effects like falling leaves and extra background characters, and the whole thing runs at a smooth 60 FPS. And, yes, this thing looks unbelievable, the closest any game has ever been to resembling a real-time cartoon. "Wow-that game looks amazing." It was a phrase I couldn't escape hearing from passing co-workers, day in and day out, as I played the Dreamcast version of Rayman 2. ![]() ![]() ![]() To my Calvary Cathedral of Praise church family whose love and prayers availed much in the successful completion of this book. Lungs are fine, heart is fine, stamina is fine, legs are. But even without the ice barrel, I used every tool I had at my disposal to avoid injury. If I had a barrel or something that could keep its cool without me wasting tons of water every day, I would totally use them for post-run recovery. The only I didn't do was ice baths, something I really like but haven't got the capacity at home to do. I also made sure I slept as well as possible and even wore compression socks for running after the runs to enhance recovery. This involved warm-ups – sometimes, I used a massage gun to energise my calves pre-run – post-run foam roller sessions and the use of my favourite recovery tool, the Therabody RecoveryAir JetBoots. Even before I started, I knew my legs won't like the training load increase, so I followed a rigorous recovery schedule from day 1 to ensure I minimise the risk of injury as much as possible. The "make sure my body was ready" part in the above sentence refers to recovery, the most important part of this challenge, at least as far as I was concerned. I tried to balance the two approaches by not wavering from the original goal of running a 10k every day but doing my best to make sure my body was ready for the sessions every day. You can do fitness challenges in a sensible way, keeping a keen eye on your body and monitoring/working around any sore spots, but admittedly, that's not quite as exciting as an all-out effort. If anything, it's dangerous and pointless – yet, people can't stop reading about fitness challenges, so people keep on doing them. ![]() This is not healthy or beneficial for your physical development. The main problem with fitness challenges is that they usually overload one area of the body (often one muscle group) and neglect others entirely. However, every time I do these challenges, I keep thinking I don't want to do them anymore as they are just silly. I did 100 pull-ups for a week before and even attempted the 10,000-swing kettlebell challenge. I seldom do fitness challenges and when I do, it's because I got myself into a training rut. ![]() ![]() With all that in mind, I still expect the actual Spider-Verse 2 experience to be a blast. Spider-Verse 2 does end with a message: “Miles Morales will return in… Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.” Yes, he will. Not that every Spider-Man adventure should have one, of course. The plot leak also says the sequel has no credits scenes, which is a strange choice for a superhero movie. What about Spider-Verse 2 credits scenes? Having Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield in a multiverse not linked to the MCU would have been confusing. ![]() Either that or the person who watched the film didn’t recognize them. But what’s clear is that none of Sony’s Spider-Man variants from the live-action movies appear in the animated feature. ![]() The Spider-Verse 2 plot leak doesn’t mention other notable Easter eggs or cameos. The Spider-Man dude who invented the Spider-Man multiverse force. And since Venom is part of the SSU and the MCU, it must mean you can connect these cinematic universes. I have already discussed it in previous coverage. Strangely enough, there is a link to Venom. In other words, this Miles Morales shouldn’t be able to cross paths with Tom Holland’s Peter Parker. But since these are different multiverses, crossovers shouldn’t be possible. I already knew that from Sony’s marketing. ![]() MCU connections and Easter eggsĪnother reason I’m not too fond of the story is that the multiverse rules here make Spider-Verse 2 incompatible with the MCU multiverse. You can read the full Spider-Verse 2 plot leak at the end of this post. One side has accepted they have to let their loved ones die in Spider-Verse 2, while the others think they don’t have to make that sacrifice. Separately, I’m also getting Captain America: Civil War vibes here since we’ll have two teams of beloved heroes battling each other for what they think it’s the right thing to do. That variant doesn’t get to be Spider-Man in that universe. From the looks of it, Miles Morales might have to battle himself in one of the universes he lands in. Instead, it’s a cliffhanger for the final episode in this saga, Beyond the Spider-Verse, which drops in March. Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse trailer. ![]() |
